Family Contradance in Harrisville

Historic Harrisville, Inc.  presents a Family Dance at St. Denis Church, Harrisville, NH 03450. The music and dances will be in the tradition of the New England barn dance.

On Sunday, August 14, from 6:00-8:00 pm, Allison Aldrich Smith of Nelson will teach and call delightful dances for all levels of experience. Her accordion playing, and the fiddling of Hunt Smith will create lively, joyful accompaniment.

Historic Harrisville, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to preserve and enhance the quality, beauty, and historical significance of Harrisville village, the environment, and the way of life in Harrisville. It’s an ideal space for a dance like this. We hope many families will come and get to know one another,” says John J. Colony, Jr, or “Chick” as he is known, chairman of Historic Harrisville, Inc.

The music and dance presented are part of an unbroken tradition of dance in this region. Families, singles, neighbors and friends of all ages are encouraged to come. All of the dances will be taught and no experience is needed.
