On every July 4 since 1926, the community has gathered at Monadnock Center to celebrate the nation’s independence with a ceremony that features a speaker, flag raising, and reading of the Declaration of Independence.
This year’s speaker is John Franklin of Peterborough who will read excerpts from The American Crisis as Thomas Paine. Joining Franklin are two ConVal High School seniors serving as this year’s reader and singer. Michelle Jarest of Temple will read the Declaration of Independence. Carly Storro of Antrim will sing the national anthem following the flag raising performed by members of the Sea Cadets.
The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. and is held rain or shine. This event is free and all are welcome.
