New Hampshire Institute of Art, Sharon Arts Campus is pleased to announce their upcoming exhibition in the Community Arts Gallery, “ConVal Alumni.” Sharon Arts Campus is hosting the exhibition due to their long standing relationship with the arts department at ConVal High School, and their dedication to promoting arts within the local community. Many of the participating artists were enrolled in the Sharon Arts Center ArtAccess program, which was designed to provide access to high school students interested in pursuing art in college through a rigorous portfolio building class.
Ben Putnam, Art Department Head at ConVal, decided to curate the show to celebrate the past decade of teachers and students who went through the art program at ConVal High School. Putnam states, “While attending “BROKE: The Affordable Arts Fair” last spring I couldn’t help but be impressed and proud to see how many of our alumni were still committed to a serious art making practice. Further reflection on the fact that I was about to complete my tenth year teaching at ConVal I thought it would be great to organize an exhibition that showcased the art practices of the faculty I’d worked with and the students we’d shared these past ten years.” BROKE: The affordable arts fair, is organized by Mary Goldthwaite-Gagne, a faculty member in the Arts department at ConVal.
There will be all types of media shown, 2D, 3D, and video. NHIA is also pleased to announce that they will be donating 100% of their proceeds made from the exhibition towards the funding of the Visual/Performing Arts Center that has been proposed at ConVal. The opening reception for the exhibit will be held on October 2, 5-7pm at the Sharon Arts Center Exhibition Gallery, 30 Grove Street, Peterborough, NH. The exhibit will run through October 31.
