Sibling View: Two Point Perspective

Sibling View: Two Point Perspective

The Jaffrey Civic Center is pleased to announce a unique painting exhibit. This show will begin in the first floor Auditorium Gallery with an opening to the public on Sunday, September 6 from3:30 to 5:30, and run through Saturday, September 26.

The neighborhood is the Monadnock Region; the siblings are Jane Cecil Howard

of Sharon, NH and Moffitt Cecil of Austin, Texas.
Jane studied at the Arts Students’ League in NYC before moving to NH

where she later taught French at Conant High School.
Moffitt studied art and painted in San Francisco and Boston before settling in NYC

where he worked in graphic arts.
The oils represent nine summers of painting in this area—often
the same image or scene. Viewed together one can see the individual painter’s sensibilities and
priorities: what to paint and how to paint. The similarity of place or image highlights the difference found by each painter.
The works beautifully represent two related but distinct views.
Two siblings, four eyes, two styles.
