Verdi Opens Met Live Season at Players
“Il Trovatore” at Peterborough Players this Saturday
PETERBOROUGH, New Hampshire (September 28, 2015) The Peterborough Players’ Arts on Screen 2015-2016 Series presents its first Metropolitan Opera Live offering, Giuseppe Verdi’s IL TROVATORE, this Saturday, October 3rd at 1pm at the Peterbrough Players Theatre.
Sir David McVicar directs this explosive production of Veridi’s tale of love and death he first premiered in 2009. Soprano Anna Netrebko’s dramatic and vocal skills are on full display in her next new role at the Met — Leonora, the Verdi heroine who sacrifices her own life for the love of the gypsy troubadour.
The New York Times hails baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky’s performance,“He sang with Verdian lyricism, dramatic subtlety and, when called for, chilling intensity as the complex count.”
The Peterborough Players’ Arts on Screen series is presented in stunning NEC high definition digital projection and incomparable Dolby® Surround Sound. The Met Live series is presented live from New York City’s Lincoln Center. Met Live audiences also receive extras: insider interviews plus live behind-the-scenes video of the production.
